The City of Sydney Council is “upgrading” a number of green areas around town. See this post.
Your local one is Redfern Park.
As part of the upgrade the contractors re-landscaped the whole area, that means lawn-by-the-roll.
This way of ‘rolling-on’ green spaces is not always effective. It implies a number of factors to be favorable, otherwise the grass (mostly kikuyu and couch) will not be readily grafting itself onto the new soil.
Whatever the reasons, the green spaces of the newly landscaped park where pretty brown.
Now, the park is going to be opened to the public on this coming Saturday, so what the contractors did?
THEY PAINTED THE LAWN GREEN!
